JCC Maccabi Chicago is gearing up for this summer’s JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest with the announcement of 2010 Information Nights and official tryouts. JCC Maccabi Chicago is a Jewish Community Center (JCC) Chicago program that provides athletic, social and cultural experiences to Jewish teens, ages 13-16 years. All interested athletes and families are invited to attend a free information night to learn more about the JCC Maccabi Games in Denver, Colo., and Omaha, Neb., Aug. 1-6, 2010, and JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 8-13, 2010. Skokie Review Kids from throughout the Chicago area Monday gathered at Skokie's Mayer Kaplan Jewish Community Center in the name of selflessness -- in the name of Martin Luther King Jr.
The JCC's special day of service brought 75 kids from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade age to the JCC on their off day from school. To remember and honor King, they worked on a variety of projects to make the world a better place. "They got it," said Laurie Goldberg, Director of Children and Family Services at JCC of Chicago. Team Chicago sends 100 Jewish teen athletes to compete at the 2009 JCC Maccabi Games JCC Maccabi Chicago sent 100 Jewish teen athletes to compete at the 28th annual Jewish Community Center (JCC) Maccabi Games in San Francisco, CA (Aug. 2-7), San Antonio, Texas (Aug. 9-14), and Mid-Westchester, N.Y. (Aug. 16-21). JCC Macabi Chicago is a JCC Chicago program that provides athletic, social and cultural experiences to Jewish teens ages 13-16 years. Team Chicago earned 127 individual and team medals, including individual gold medals in Bowling, Dance, Golf, Swimming, and Track & Field, and team gold medals in Boys Baseball 16U. Boys Basketball 14U, Girls Basketball, and Girls Softball brought home silver medals in their respective team competitions. Link to article |
