Bernard Weinger JCC AquaFit Deep-water running and shallow-water choreography combine to give you a balanced cross-training workout. Use of noodles, aqua gloves and foam dumbbells help to burn fat, develop lean muscles, improve posture and enhance endurance.
Aqua Pump Aqua Pump is geared to those who need to let off a little steam. It’s a fast-paced class combining cardiovascular conditioning with upper and lower body toning.
Group Strength This intense class will make you burn fat and tone your body. This pure body sculpting program is the ultimate in group exercise weight training to music. Deep Water Aerobics The use of a flotation device makes this class the most challenging water class.
Jazzercise Get your heart pumping and move your feet to the beat. Join us six days a week for this energy-packed workout.
Parkinson’s Conditioning This land class is specifically for people living with Parkinson’s. It includes gentle and appropriate exercises to help increase flexibility, overall strength and stamina.
Working with Weights Explore free weights, strength training and flexibility training. This class is the closest workout to personal training in a group setting.
Fit MS This class is for people with MS, Parkinson’s or other conditions that affect balance. The program utilizes the best yoga, tai chi, Pilates and stability ball techniques to improve balance, strength, flexibility and range of motion. Call for a class schedule.

Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons Yoga Certified Yoga instructor Uma Balu continues instructing yoga at the Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons. Uma has been teaching yoga for 12 years in the Northwest Suburban area and has been with the JCC for 5 years. Yoga helps people of all ages release daily stresses through a combination of stretching, relaxation, balance, strengthening and flexibility. Please wear comfortable clothing. Bernard Horwich JCC Aqua Dynamics A total body workout that uses the water’s resistance and support to improve cardiovascular fitness and strength. It is a very effective class for people with arthritis.
Cardio-Kickboxing (Women Only) In this exciting class, kicking and punching movements to music provide you with an exciting, knockout workout! Get every part of your body moving with a variety of exercises geared for the older adult. Pilates Pilates is a unique method of body conditioning consisting of twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling and rolling movements on the floor. It focuses on core strength training by using all the muscles attached to the spine and hip. The benefits of this type of exercise are muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and joint mobility. If you want to tone your stomach and strengthen your lower back, this is the class for you!
Sit & Get Fit If you think you can only sit—you are wrong! Join the “unique” chair exercise class geared for the less then fit senior. Feel positive about your body as well as your mind. Strength Training (Women Only) Get total body conditioning and strengthening using a variety of rubber resistance tubing. Benefits are seen quickly as you tone up, get stronger, improve endurance, flexibility, bone density and balance. Core strength is also targeted. Stone JCC Life Line Health Screening at the JCC: 10 Minutes Could Save Your Life Ingalls Memorial Hospital is pleased to offer these important health screenings at the Anita M. Stone JCC on Monday, October 24, along with Life Line Screening. These health screening events are in partnership and sponsored by Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Life Line screens the carotid arteries in the neck to determine if you are at risk for stroke. Up to 75% of all strokes are linked to carotid artery blockage. Screenings on the arteries of the legs are offered to check for peripheral artery disease, which is linked to heart disease. A third test is performed for aneurysms in the aortic vessel of the abdomen. Life Line also offers a bone density screening to test for early detection of osteoporosis. This non-invasive, painless, preventive program is aimed at people 40 years and over. The program is open to the public and results are sent to you along with recommendations.
