JCC aquatics staff teach the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. This multi-level program allows campers to progress at their own pace and develop the confidence and skills they need to become good swimmers. Safety is stressed in and around the pool. Certified lifeguards staff the pool during swim instruction and free play. Yedidim campers swim two times a week. Chaverim campers swim three times a week. Campers first grade and up swim once each day except on field trip days. Swim TestingEach camper is tested at the beginning of the summer and placed in an appropriate swim level. Each level includes specific skill requirements which campers work on with staff. Campers pass out of levels through formal and informal testing. Swim Progress ReportsParents receive a swim progress report at the end of the summer which shares the skills campers are currently working on as well as accomplishments. Observing Swim LessonsFor the safety and security of our campers, Bernard Horwich JCC Day Camp is not open to visitors. If you are interested in observing swim instruction, please contact the Camp Director.
