We continually assess and strengthen the measures needed to ensure the safety and security of our members, staff and volunteers who are in our programs and facilities.

Our full-time Director of Safety and Security oversees security procedures, equipment and training for all of our locations.

In every community that we serve, JCC of Chicago maintains close and ongoing working relationships with local governments including police and emergency personnel who keep an ongoing, watchful eye on our sites and grounds. Local authorities also alert us to any security information, issues and threats that could affect us. Additionally, we are in regular communication with state and Federal agencies that monitor national and world events and who advise us if circumstances warrant any upgrade or modification to our security systems and procedures.

All of our sites maintain access control and other security systems like door buzzers, security cameras and less visible systems and procedures that help us maintain security and deal with emergency situations. All JCC staff receives training in security and safety measures and scenarios including possible medical issues, severe weather conditions, and the oversight of children and adults while in our care and supervision.

JCC also employs additional security personnel in light of world events and for public events and programs at our locations and at sites that we rent.

JCC continually reviews its security procedures and implements new measures as needed.  We ask all of our members, program participants and visitors to our locations to help us maintain safe and secure JCC facilities at all times and throughout the entire year by adhering to our procedures of access control including requests for identification or membership cards, and any other measures that we may we put into place for the safety and well being of everybody visiting and working in our sites.

JCC issues periodic security bulletins to our members and program participants. We also meet with specific JCC program families as needed to update them about our security measures and procedures, and to allow members to share with us their security concerns and suggestions.

Every JCC staff member is a part of the JCC security team. We ask all of our members and parents to strengthen our efforts by being alert to anything that appears suspicious at any of our Centers or sites and report their observations to staff for follow up.

Please watch this space for future updates.
