Security at JCC of Chicago PDF Print E-mail

Dear JCC Members, Program Participants and Visitors,

The safety and security of all our members, program participants, visitors and staff is of utmost importance to JCC. John Simmons, JCC’s Director of Safety and Security, works closely with local and national authorities to monitor events that could warrant any changes to our security procedures or equipment. Additionally, we maintain close working relationships with all local governments including police and emergency personnel. Not only do these personnel keep a watchful eye on our sites and grounds, they alert us to any security information, issues and threats that could affect us.

All JCC staff receives training in security and safety measures and scenarios including possible medical issues, severe weather conditions, and the oversight of children and adults in our care and supervision. We also employ special security personnel while camp is in session and for public events and programs at our locations and sites that we rent.

All access control procedures for our buildings are the responsibility of JCC staff. All members must have a valid JCC Photo Identification card to enter our buildings. The JCC ID cards include expiration dates and are issued to all members with a valid, up-to-date membership. The front desk staff is available to issue cards. Once your photo is taken and your card is issued, JCC staff will ask to see your JCC Photo ID every time you enter a JCC location. If you forget your JCC Photo ID, you will be asked to show other photo identification and sign-in. All photos are stored in our computer database, so we can reissue lost or expired cards without needing to take another photo.

Each JCC staff also wears a Photo Identification card for added security and so that our members can easily and quickly identify JCC employees. Staff is required to wear the Photo ID whenever they are in any JCC location.

Staff must be diligent and consistent in enforcing our security measures, so we ask for your full cooperation in helping us adhere to our procedures at all of our locations and throughout the year. Please do not ask staff to make any exceptions to the procedures that we need to follow in order to ensure the safety and security of our members, visitors and staff.

If you have any questions about these procedures, please contact your local Center or site executive. We look forward to seeing you often at our Centers and Early Childhood sites and enjoying all that JCC has to offer.

Thank you.
