2. What will JCC offer to families year-round on the Campus? JCC is committed to offering programs at the new Campus that expand upon programs currently offered in the Northwest suburbs through our Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons. We plan to offer frequent family holiday programs and events like Sukkot Family Fun (October, 2008), Winter Family Fun Day (December 25, 2008) and Tu B’shevat Nature Scavenger Hunt (February, 2009). Our “Me and My Dad” Program (children in kindergarten-5th grade and their fathers) is planning several outings at the Campus including nature hikes and undernighters. We will also be introducing a special mini “Me and My Dad” Program for children 3 and 4 years old and their fathers that will also make use of the Campus. 3. What programs will be available for children above the age 5? Our Children’s Department is planning a variety of activities on the Campus beginning with our premier Post Camp Vacation Days, August 11-15, 2008. Children from communities surrounding the Campus, together with children from Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons, will share an exciting week of swimming at the JCC Elaine Frank Apachi Day Camp’s heated outdoor pool, and participate in a variety of fun-filled programs including field trips. Our caring staff will provide before-and-after care to meet the needs of our working parents. “When School is Out… the JCC is In!” Vacation Day programs will be offered at the Campus throughout the school year when area schools are closed. Our program will run from 9:30 am-3:00 pm, and families will have the option of early drop off beginning at 8 am and late pick up until 6 pm. Winter Vacation Days, in December, 2008, will offer field trip options as well as sports clinics to help children get ready for our “Spring Sports” program at the JCC. We are also planning to offer a number of Enrichment Classes on the Campus in the fall of 2008 that will enhance children’s appreciation of the outdoors including trails and wetlands. Classes include “Nature Crafts” and “Outdoor Survival Skills”. Our popular “Extraordinary Kids” enrichment program will be offered for half-day kindergarten children to learn more about the world around them. Each session will explore several thematic units that will be integrated into areas such as science, math, language arts, social studies, art and music. 4. What Children’s Sports & Leagues programs will be available? The Campus will have manicured sports fields available for both practice and competitive play. The programs that we plan to offer at the new Campus, beginning in the fall of 2008 will be an extension of the well-established Sports and Leagues program at the Jacob Duman JCC at Woodland Commons. In the fall of 2008, we plan to offer soccer and flag football for children 4 years to second grade. We will also be bringing our outstanding “Start Smart Parent/ Child” sports programs to the Campus as a cornerstone of our programming for children 3-5 years old. 5. Will the Region offer adult programs at the new Campus in Lake Zurich? In 2009, the JCC is planning programs that will enhance the participant’s awareness and appreciation of the 30 beautiful acres of Campus grounds like Yoga, Spirituality Walks and Fitness classes. |
