Our counselors are mature, responsible individuals who have had years of experience in camping and take a genuine interest in working with youngsters. Children feel safe, loved and nurtured while looking up to their counselors as true role-models.

Meet Jamee Smith

JCC Apachi Village Camp Director

Jamee Smith has thoroughly enjoyed her 18 years of JCC camping experience and especially loves the summer. She also holds a Bachelors of Science from The University of Kansas, as well as, a Masters degree in Elementary Education from National-Louis University.

While studying for her degree at National-Louis University Jamee became a camp counselor at JCC “Z” Frank Apachi Day Camp. At this time she developed a love for camping and knew that this was the career path she wanted to pursue. Over the past 18 years Jamee has held many full and part time positions at within JCC camping. For the past two years Jamee has built a strong reputation as the camp director at Apachi Village Day Camp building relationships with campers, staff, and families.

Jamee brings lots of enthusiasm and excitement to work at JCC Chicago.
