Jewish values, traditions, culture and celebrations contribute to making the Jewish Community Center of Chicago Early Childhood learning experience unique. We believe that the values and practices that drive success throughout life can be incorporated into the care and education of even the youngest infant.
Our exceptional staff and programming provides a foundation for children to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically and spiritually. In our curriculum, we integrate character-building lessons into a strong academic framework based on cutting-edge scientific brain research and developmentally appropriate teaching methods. Children have fun while they live in Jewish time celebrating Jewish holidays, developing a love of Israel, honoring Shabbat and learning about the Torah. Assuring that each child achieves his or her personal potentialEach child is an individual and has a unique learning style. JCC staff and curriculum recognizes and embraces these differences and provides opportunities for all children to be successful and reach their potential.
Teaching through hands-on experiences and creating critical thinkersJCC Early Childhood teaches through hands-on experience in the classroom. Children learn through problem-solving, discovering, experimenting, and exploring. They develop curiosity and are encouraged to ask questions about the world around them. They are taught to be proactive in learning and gathering information. This “active” learning approach is fun and helps children retain information.
Establishing a foundation for a lifetime of learningWhen children have completed JCC Early Childhood programs they are well-prepared for the school challenges that await them. The critical foundations for academic learning including perceptual, social, motor, language, pre-math and pre-writing skills are well-established creating confident, resilient, determined and empowered children eager to advance educationally.
Building communityFrom the moment a parent and child enter a JCC Early Childhood program that family becomes part of a vibrant Jewish community known as The Jewish Community Center of Chicago. Children and families develop lifelong bonds to the JCC Early Childhood staff, to each other and to the larger JCC community.
