Assistant Director of Development
LOCATION:

DUTIES:
As a member of the Financial Resource Development team, the Assistant Director of Development is responsible for developing and implementing major gifts fundraising strategies to continue to increase the philanthropic resource base of the organization. Specific duties include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Work with Senior Management to develop and implement strategies and tactics for identification and cultivation of prospects for the JCC Endowment Fund and other Major Gift initiatives.
- Collaborate with Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago staff for approval of major gift/endowment prospects.
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective multi-faceted donor recognition and communication program.
- Develop and implement intimate donor cultivation events. Track/manage volunteer cultivation and solicitation meetings and activities.
- Develop proposals, appeals and giving opportunities for donors and prospects, and create customized gift cultivation correspondence.
- Provide research, material development and meeting strategies in support of lay leader and executive management donor cultivation and solicitation activities.
- Pro-actively develop expertise regarding all aspects of the organization’s mission, long range plans, operations, programs and services.
- Represent the organization professionally and with enthusiasm and develop and maintain strong positive relationships with volunteer leadership.
- Develop, foster and maintain relationships across the agency that facilitate a shared commitment to accomplish the FRD goals.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in various aspects of fundraising, including: donor development, donor recognition programs, major gifts support and volunteer leadership development.
- Ability to develop, nurture and build internal and external relationships.
- Strategic thinking and orientation, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects and constituents.
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, Raiser’s Edge and the Internet, with the ability to learn new programs as needed.
- Knowledge of funding community (Jewish, secular, foundations; local and national).
- Knowledge of Jewish United Fund, Jewish Federation agencies, and, United Way helpful.
- Knowledge and involvement with Jewish community-at-large is a plus.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated enthusiasm, strong work ethic, resourcefulness and the ability to work successfully in an evolving start-up environment.
