kehillahThe Early Childhood Kehillah of
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

Early Childhood Kehillah is a joint project supported by The Associated Talmud Torahs (ATT) The Community Foundation for Jewish Education (CFJE), Jewish Community Centers of Chicago (JCC) and Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF). In meeting the Kehillah criteria, Jewish Community Center of Chicago Early Childhood is accomplishing the following:

  • Delivering, and demonstrating a team commitment to providing the very best in Jewish early childhood education in the community
  • Laying an excellent foundation for children’s further Jewish and academic education
  • Enhancing Jewish education of the staff and families

Criteria include:

  • Having a written statement of philosophy, including the Judaic aspects of its educational goals
  • Annual program evaluations
  • Incorporating developmentally appropriate activities into holidays and other Jewish curricular goals
  • Engaging planned and spontaneous activities and classroom materials reflecting Jewish content helping children to achieve cognitive, emotional, physical, social and spiritual goals
  • Involving parents and transmitting Jewish content to the home
  • Following a written curriculum including age appropriate and developmentally appropriate activities and material for a defined set of Jewish subject area including Torah, Mitzvot, holidays, Israel, Hebrew, Synagogue, Jewish community.
